Packing For Your Trip To Athens, Greece

If you are planning a trip to Athens, Greece, you will want to make sure that you pack the right items. Remember that the weather in Greece, especially in Athens, is usually mild and warm.

Passport

Don't leave home without it! Your passport should be number one on your list; you do not want to attempt to enter Greece without this document. Citizens of the United States, Canada or Great Britain do not need a Visa to enter Greece and neither do citizens of any other nation in the European Union. However, citizens of most other countries around the world will need a Greek visa.

Bathing suit

Do not forget to bring your bathing suit when you visit Athens, Greece. Most of the luxury hotels have an indoor swimming pool for all year and if you visit Greece during the summer months, a visit to the beach is a must. Make sure that you take at least one day away from sightseeing in Athens, Greece to visit one of the beautiful Mediterranean beaches.

Euros and Credit Cards

You can use Credit Cards in most of the places in Athens just like you can in the United States. You can even use ATM machines. You are better off to have at least a few Euros for tipping, however.

Pocket Translator

Although most people in the tourist areas speak some English, it is a good idea to have a pocket translator on hand if you do not speak or understand Greek. Of course, there's nothing better than picking up a few key phrases in Greek if you are planning a visit this beautiful country.

Shorts, Dresses, Pants

If you are going to Athens, Greece for business, you will want to dress accordingly. If you are packing for a pleasure trip, you do not have to worry about bringing a lot of dressy clothes. If you are visiting in the summer months, pack light as you can get away with wearing shorts and t-shirts and simple summer dresses when you go out.

Comfortable shoes

Nothing beats a walking tour of Athens, Greece, but in order to do this, you had better have comfortable shoes. While a pair of narrow tipped 3-inch heels is great when you are dining out at one of the fine restaurants in Athens, Greece, you need something much more comfortable during the day if you intend rambling around the many ruins in this ancient city.

Jackets

If you are planning on traveling up in the hills or mountains in this region, it can get cool so make sure that you bring a jacket so that you do not get cold.

With regards to other personal items, different airlines have different security restrictions. Make sure that you call our airline and find out what are the latest security measures and restrictions in place so that you are not carrying along something that would be considered contraband.
